Anxiety Counseling in Tempe, Arizona

You work so hard and it just doesn’t ever feel like enough.

You are stressed, tired, unfulfilled and NEED something different.

Your anxiety while trying to make the next best decision to keep everyone happy has become too much. You feel the constant pressure and the toll it has taken on you. You see that your relationships are suffering. But more importantly, YOU are suffering. You feel it more than you ever have before. Somewhere along the way, you lost sight of who you are, your true needs and joy. And here you are, empty, tired and unsure of how to get back on track.

For a long time, it seemed your “life success” + and the pleasure of making others happy was enough to sustain you. But lately your mood hasn’t been great. You’ve been struggling to get out of bed in the morning after a lousy night's sleep. The pressure to please others is still there but with a fraction of the energy and passion. In its place lies a heavy emptiness you can’t avoid anymore.

You’ve done all the things ✅ along the way to to create the “healthy adult life”, but things aren’t panning out the way you dreamed. From hindsight, you see that you’ve been working so hard to keep others happy, rather than yourself. But you are unsure of how to change that. Where does one start on this journey? The massive fear of taking the risk to live the life you love holds you back, too. What if it doesn’t work and everything falls apart and there’s no one left in your corner?

You are ready for something better.

You want to know and love yourself, truly. And to be accepted, valued and loved by others for who you are rather than what you do. You want to feel fulfilled in life and able to take up some space or make a mistake without tremendous guilt. You are ready to ditch the constant stress in exchange for a good night’s sleep. And I am here for it.

My name is Christina Kennedy and I am an anxiety therapist in Tempe, AZ. I help men and women who are empty, lonely and tired of giving all they have got to everyone else, leaving little to nothing for themselves. I help my clients learn to slow down and tend to their own needs and discover what life can be like without the pressure of keeping everyone else happy all of the time. My clients experience change over their time in therapy, not just in their anxiety and career, but in how they feel about themselves and relate to others.

My clients report feeling accepted and emotionally safe when we first meet. I know coming in and sharing the nitty gritty about your life challenge(s) is very vulnerable. And I am so honored to hold the safe space for you to be real and move forward. I often think of myself as a big heart shaped mirror. I show up with genuine love for my clients, reflecting what I see and hear, while exploring with curiosity what is getting in between them and their goals. I will laugh with you, cry with you, curse with you and even join you in the silence when needed. And I will also offer homework when appropriate to build on our work in between sessions. If homework isn’t your thing, no problem.

For nearly 10 years, I have been working with people who struggle with people-pleasing and anxiety. My clients typically come to see me weekly so they have consistent support and can move out of feeling like they are in crisis. I will often integrate breathing exercises, body movement or meditation so you have tools to help you find calm in your day to day. Therapy doesn’t have to feel scary and hard. It can feel like a relief, a breath of fresh air after you’ve been gasping for a long time.
